Our Process

DESIGN Meet with one of our friendly, experienced sales staff to help with your design, answer any questions you may have and select your stone.

PRICE ESTIMATE  Using your kitchen plans, our estimator will provide a price estimate for your project.

STONE SELECTION & APPROVAL  Prior to fabrication you should approve your stone if you have not already done so. We feel this is a valid and necessary step in keeping with customer satisfaction considering that natural stone varies in pattern and coloration. While infrequent, if the stone does not meet the customers expectation, we will return it and make every attempt to find one that does.

SINKS All cut-outs for drop in sinks and vessel sinks (overmount sink) are made on the job site. Please have the sinks at the job site at the time of installation. All undermount sinks have to be at our shop at least 3 days prior to the scheduled install date. If you have not selected one of our sinks, please request your plumbing company ship the sink to us.  All cut-outs for the undermount sinks are made in the fabrication shop. We do not make cut-outs based on templates or specification sheets, we prefere to have the sink in-house.                                                                                                                                                                                                           Granite and marble tops look best with an under-mounted sink. Undermounted sinks reveal the color and pattern of the stone through its thickness. A drop-in sink rests on top of the granite

COOK TOP Please have the cook top (including downdraft if applicable) at the job site at the time of installation. We do not cut based on specification sheets provided by the manufacturer.

FAUCET HOLES  Faucet holes are drilled in the fabrication shop so faucet size and placement is required prior to installation. Standard faucet hole size is 1-3/8" and 2" holes for computer desks. Please let us know ahead of time if you need holes drilled for computer wiring.

SEAMS Granite slabs are produced in 8 ft lengths. However, slabs in some colors are available up to 10 ft long. Seams will be placed on long runs and are based on the size of the slabs, location of the cook top, sinks, dishwasher, and other variables. We go to great lengths to minimize the number of seams.

EDGES We offer various types of edges. Below is information on our profiled edges.

Profiled Edges
BGM can produce any profiled edge you desire. Below are a few examples of profiled edges you can choose from. The most popular are Eased Edge, Bevel Edge, Ogee Edge, Half Bull-Nose, and Full Bull-Nose.

BACKSPLASHES  Standard backsplashes measure 4" tall and notably compliment the countertop in all locations where the countertop adjoins with a wall or cabinet panel. The full height backsplash is where the splash meets the bottom of the wall cabinets. An oven splash is a functional accent in combination with standard backsplashes. If you need a backsplash for a bar, it is recommended that you have a 12" minimum overhang and you use brackets.

TEMPLATE DAY After the cabinetry is installed, we will send one of our fabricator/installation technicians to template your project. Note: if your project is comprised only of the replacement of your current countertop we generally do not require removing existing countertops to template or measure.

INSTALLATION DAY  Please remove any items from cabinetry. Please provide clear lanes of travel both outside and inside your home. Installations take anywhere from 2 - 6 hours depending on size and complexity of the project.  The customer is responsible for scheduling a plumber to handle hook up after installation.         Note: On remodels the customer is required to remove an existing countertops.

PAYMENT  A 50% payment is required at the time of confirmation of the project and the remaining balance is due upon completion.
